The existing house was a typical builders' box that ignored a beautiful site in a bucolic, rural setting. The interior was divided into many small, dark rooms, which did not suit the family's lifestyle. Among the things the family needed were a larger kitchen and eating area, an accessible guest bedroom on the main floor, a new home office, better views, and natural light. They also wanted outdoor spaces where they could gather, entertain, and enjoy their beautiful site.
To address the family's needs and wishes, we added a generous front porch and an intimate screened side porch. We also expanded the back of the house to accommodate a large, light-filled kitchen, a breakfast area, and a spacious mudroom. We converted the existing attached garage to a guest-bedroom suite, and we removed some interior walls to allow space, views, and natural light to flow throughout the house.
A second phase is planned that includes a new detached garage with living space above it.
