The owner of a recently restored historic farmhouse wants a place on their property to swim and entertain throughout the year, as well as a new garage and woodworking shop. In keeping with the rural vernacular language of the existing farmhouse, we are proposing a pair of "barn" structures, one to house a new fifty foot lap pool, sitting area, bathroom, and covered porch, and another for a new shop and garage.

The swimming pool structure will be a simple gabled form, constructed with durable, low maintenance materials, and a series of exposed roof trusses. Generous windows, sliding glass doors, and a roof-top light monitor will fill the space with sunlight and provide views of the surrounding pastoral landscape. Various outdoor patios will provide opportunities for dining, barbecuing, and relaxing outdoors.
