The owner of a recently restored historic farmhouse wanted a place on their property to swim and entertain throughout the year. In keeping with the rural vernacular language of the existing farmhouse and existing barn, we designed a barn-like structure to house a new fifty-foot lap pool, screen porch, restroom, a mechanical and storage area, and a large carport that can serve as an area for outdoor entertaining.
The swimming pool structure is a simple gabled form, constructed with durable, low maintenance materials, and a series of exposed beams. Generous windows and a rooftop light monitor fill the space with sunlight and provide views of the surrounding pastoral landscape. Various outdoor spaces will provide opportunities for dining, barbecuing, and relaxing outdoors.
