Twenty-four acres of farmland are the site for a new home and a pottery
studio/guesthouse. The clients' dreams included a large protecting roof, a
welcoming front porch, and a fully accessible ground floor. We were challenged
to site and design the structures to fit their wishes while preserving the
character of the landscape.
We anchored the house in the site by placing it next to a cluster of shading
trees. Our choice of materials, brick walls and metal roof, give it a sense of
timelessness and belonging consistent with its country setting. Interior
activities extend to carefully designed outdoor places through porches and
decks. Inside, the feeling of spaciousness is successfully complemented with
intimate areas.
