The Lakkas residence was built on an infill lot in an established Raleigh neighborhood. The design of the house fits the diverse, unpretentious character of the neighborhood while comfortably accommodating a multigenerational family. The spaces are organized around an open, light-filled central living space with a kitchen, dining area, and living room. A generous screened porch and balconies connect the house to the natural surroundings and provide outdoor living spaces. A one-bedroom apartment on the ground level, complete with its own kitchen, living spaces, and separate entry, provides independent living for the grandmother of the family.
